Earlier this month, the team at Skaff Furniture Carpet One Floor Home, a longtime supporter of area causes and organizations, gathered to distribute carpet squares to well over 200 area teachers. With many of the local classrooms overcrowded, the carpet squares have a very important role to play- serving as instant space dividers, as well as a soft landing for floor activities. Participating teachers were able to receive one square per students, of up to 30 students. Over 7,000 squares of carpet were donated this September.
Store owner Dick Skaff said he’s always looking for ways of giving back. He said he believes that all too often, local teachers aren’t properly recognized for all they do. “They’re always working: they’re in the classrooms early before school even starts, and often they’re working from home on the weekends,” he added. Skaff further noted that he was happy to help the teachers, noting that many would have otherwise had to purchase area rugs with their own money. Each teacher was also given a $50 gift certificate to Skaff Furniture Carpet One.
