Art truly is in the eye of the beholder. That’s good news for us when we’re choosing art for our homes. Ultimately, as long as you are happy looking at it every day, you've made a good choice. Take a good look at those empty walls and imagine how great they could look if you’d stop procrastinating and start hanging up some art. Here are a few tips to get you started.
Go Local
Want an original work of art without having to put a second mortgage on your house to get it? Find a local artist or art school and you may be surprised to find that you can have a one-of-a-kind piece for less than you think. If it’s something you love, it doesn't matter if it’s not Van Gogh. You’ll also have a great story to tell about supporting a local artist.
Frame It
If you have a favorite artist that’s out of your budget, considering buying a print or a poster and having it framed. You’ll still enjoy the beauty of the piece at a fraction of the cost.
Black & White Photography
Choose some of your favorite photos and have them blown up and printed in black & white. They’ll instantly look more like art and less like a snapshot. Plus, each photo will really mean something to you.
Grab a Paint Brush
For the cost of a canvas and some paint, you could make your own abstract art. Choose the colors you want that coordinate with your space. Go ahead. Be your own artist.
